Racism & CRT

If you don't think racism is a contemporary problem, you've probably been living under a rock. Every news source, every social media outlet, every political or cultural blog has been forced to deal with it on an almost daily basis—whether it's Dylann Roof mindlessly killing members of a Bible study group, police brutality against unarmed citizens, or the horrors of the modern slave trade, racism's rotten tendrils creep into even the most benign-seeming corners of society.

This is particularly perplexing in an era when human differences are seen to be increasingly superficial. Of course there are different ethnic backgrounds, and of course there are different cultures, but when it comes down to it we're all human beings, and we all long for the same things: food, shelter, friends, comfort, safety, peace, love, and belonging. Unfortunately, there are many who believe the only way to get those things is to take them from others, or (worse) to eliminate everyone they feel shouldn't have them.
