Phyfe grew up with Welsh as his second language and then continued his love of various tongues by studying languages in college and traveling around Europe. He and his wife Paula performed at the Michigan Renaissance Festival, and Phyfe loved the experience. Playing a variety of instruments, he joined other musicians to form the New World Renaissance Band. Over 250 radio stations play Phyfe's music, and he has recorded his songs in 15 different languages. Phyfe also founded Nightwatch Recording which places an emphasis on Medieval and Renaissance Music.
