Ninon Macknight Jordan Smith (1908-2000) was born in Australia and emigrated to the United States as a young adult. She first illustrated children's historical fiction and then illustrated and wrote children's picture books.
Others of her titles include Mr. Apple's Family by Jean McDeavitt, and Scaredy Cat by Phyllis Krasilovsky.
