The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. When Captain Casket finally stopped chasing the pink whale and sailed home to Nantucket, 11-year-old Dido Twite was delighted. The deck of the ship was all whale oil and blubber, her cabin harbored a quaking 9-year-old named Dutiful Penitence, and even the hold carried a curious, but alarming, cargo. Dido had had enough of Americans, whales and life on board the ship that had rescued her from a watery grave. She wanted to go home to England.
Instead she found herself staying in Nantucket with Dutiful—and Dutiful's sinister Aunt Tribulation. Inside their farmhouse, life was misery; outside in the fog, strange men made frightening plans. Dido was nothing if not resourceful, and she found a valuable ally in a Nantucket boy named Nate. Even Dutiful rallied. Nevertheless, everything depended on the pink whale.
