For Exodus Books, October is the end of the year. The months between September and June are spent in recovery from and getting ready for the busy season, which usually means clearancing items, refining our vision for the store, and thinking up excuses to get pizza for lunch. We're elbow-deep in that process right now, collecting our scattered wits and breathing a collective sigh of relief.
Things are bound to get a little crazier than usual this November when Eli and Amanda welcome their fifth child into the world. Eli will be taking some time off, there will be celebration galore, and we can all rejoice that one more infant has made itself into Christ's covenant community.
Which brings us to a related point: Thanksgiving. 2013 has been pretty crazy all the way around—politically, economically, culturally, etc. Yet all that comes to pass is ordained by God and presided over by Him, and while we may not live in the same America we were born into, we do live in the same world God made and that is more than enough to thank Him for (never mind the salvation He has secured for us through His Son!).
As the clock winds toward Christmas, we're aware that tighter budgets call for leaner gift-giving expenditures, so we'd like to point you to our on-sale games which include classics like Risk and Monopoly, in-store favorites like Dutch Blitz and Suspend, as well as more elaborate selections like 7 Wonders and Galaxy Trucker.
We're also happy to offer all our Jamie Soles CDs at reduced price. Mr. Soles is a Canadian musician who puts biblical passages, stories, and themes to folk-style music for both children and adults. A longtime favorite around here, we'd like to see his work spread to a larger audience.
Lit kits (our nickname for series and sets of books, mostly fiction) are also on sale right now, and include mostly titles that you can read for fun (because everyone needs a break from school!). Our clearance section has also grown by leaps and bounds in the last few weeks, and it's the kind of stuff you could take home to mother.
All of us look forward to serving you for another year, seeing which directions the Lord takes us, and finding and offering the best Christian and educational books and media available. Cheers!
