There's more to card games than Slapjack and Old-Maid (though maybe not much). (Just kidding.) (Bridge and Texas Hold 'Em are pretty fun.) (What's up with the parentheses?)
Anyway, we carry a veritable smorgy-bord of card games a la nouvelle et la vieille. Classics include Mille Bornes, Uno, Set, and Phase 10. For those of an anarchic bent, Dutch Blitz (our all-time bestselling game) is downright chaotic (at least when it's played right). Pit can get pretty crazy too, and noisy as all get out.
If you're looking for word games, look in our word games section. Dixit asks players to tell stories based on colorful paintings before everyone else votes on the correct one. If you're are looking for two player card games that are easy to learn but hard to master, Battle Line, Court of the Medici, Ka-Ching!, and Lost Cities are all good options. Gamewright offers a wonderful selection of kids' games. Some of our favorites include Slamwich, Loot and Rat-a-Tat-Cat.
Dominion, a deck-building card game, has quickly become [THE BEST GAME EVER INVENTED] one of our favorites. It's also one of the largest game series we carry (second only to Catan), with 6 expansions released over the past 3 years. Players combine any set of 10 cards to play a game, and with each expansion containing 14-26 new card types, there is virtually unlimited possible variety. An excellent game we highly recommend. Full stop.
7 Wonders is another addicting favorite. An in-depth game for up to seven players, you don't have to wait for others to take their turn, there are mulitple paths to victory, and play is about a half hour. In short, it's perfect. Everyone who's played has loved it. Including Frank Oz and Jim Henson. Okay, we didn't show it to either of them, but if we had they'd have loved it because they were as awesome as this game, which is pretty amazingly awesome.
