Store Policies
Price Policy:
The prices we list here are the prices you will pay on all in-stock items. We will
always stand behind the price listed here, even if we've goofed and will lose money.
However, we reserve the right to correct our price as we restock products. We are
not a general discount company and do not have a price-match guarantee, but we want to be reasonable and are
willing to occasionally adjust prices...if you ask nicely (or else bribe us with
cookies).
Discount Policy:
For most items, we can generally offer these bulk discounts:
There are a number of companies that request that we not discount their materials.
These include (with some exceptions): Veritas Press, Beautiful Feet, Institute for
Excellence in Writing, WriteShop, TruthQuest History, Doorposts, Dive into Math,
and others.
Security & Privacy Policy:
Our ordering system is secured by GeoTrust: the credit card information submitted
to us is encrypted and password protected. Once we ship your order, your number
is deleted. We want you to feel safe in ordering from us! We are also committed
to your privacy and the personal information we gather from you will never be sold,
leased or rented to anyone. We use your phone number only for contacting you with
order problems or at your request; we currently do not use our e-mail list for web
promotions (though we may in future); and we only send out physical mailings once
or twice a year. We promise not to be annoying!
Returns:
If items are returned within 30 days and they are in original, salable condition, we will gladly give a full refund, credit, or exchange (less original shipping fees)--no questions asked, no problem!
After 30 days, we reserve the right to refuse returns or subject them to restocking
fees. We rarely do this, but please understand that we have usually restocked by 30
days, and accepting returns after that can be problematic.
After 90 days (please note!), we no longer accept returns. At that point, we consider
items used and purchase them back as previously owned items. We never allow "returns"
for items purchased from other companies, but will sometimes buy them as used. See
our Used Books page for details.
The postage to return non-defective products is your responsibility.
Damaged & defective shipments:
Damaged items must be returned within 30 days for replacement or refund. We allow 90 days for defective items, understanding you may not discover a book's flaw for a little while. Please enclose a note stating the problem with the items. We are glad to cover the cost to ship replacement books, but we cannot cover your return postage unless the problem is obviously our mistake.
Incorrect shipments:
If we accidentally send you something you did not order, or we neglect to send something
you did order, please let us know immediately. We are committed to standing behind
our service, and will credit your store account for postage to send those unwanted
items back, or send the missing items at our cost & ASAP! (We reserve the right to choose which shipping method.)
Holds Policy:
If you would like us to hold a book you see on our site, we are glad to do so for up to three business days without payment. We can hold books indefinitely if they are paid for.
Special Orders Policy:
We can special order thousands (if not millions) of items we do not keep in stock.
We ask that you be sure of your request, as we do not permit returns on special-ordered
items.
Shipping:
We promise to work diligently to ship your order as soon as we can, and we are fairly
consistent to package and deliver your order to our post office within two business
days. However, because we charge an unusually low amount for shipping and handling
we prefer to ship complete orders, which might cause a slight delay. If we expect
an item to be out of stock for more than a week, we will let you know by e-mail
or phone and give you the option to cancel or backorder. We reserve the right to
charge an additional postage fee for second shipments, though we usually do not.
The reason our standard shipping costs are so reasonable is our method of shipping,
which is usually USPS media or bound printed matter. Although heavy, the U.S. postal
service offers special prices for books. For economy, this is wonderful. But there
are two drawbacks to this method. First, we cannot track a package: once it has
left here, we can't tell you where it is, only when we sent it. Second, it
can take more time: West coast customers will usually receive their order within
a week, but East coast customers will generally have to wait about two weeks, and
the packages have been known to take even longer. If you need the items faster,
please request a speedier shipping method.
Shipping and handling charges:
Our standard charge in the U.S. (any size!) is $3.50, sent USPS media mail or "best
way."
For faster service, you can choose USPS priority or UPS, but the cost of shipping
will increase. We do not offer FedEx shipping at this time.
For international orders, the shipping is calculated by the order form. Unless the
shipping is more than $5 different, we will charge that amount. If you prefer an
option not listed, please request one in the comment field, and we'll try to accomodate
you.
Taxes:
None! The State of Oregon has no sales tax.
Mail Order:
If you would prefer to mail your order we have a Printable Order Form. Use this
form to make payment by check or money order.
