Nancy Ross

Nancy Ross
A native of Olympia, Washington, Ross was born on November 22 1901.  She graduated from the University of Oregon and published her first magazine story before marrying her husband three years later.  The couple studied in Germany for two years during which time Ross saw her first novel published.  Ross later remarried a publisher and playwright, and they lived on Long Island.  During her lifetime Ross penned books on contemporary issues, on Asian religion and art, on the Pacific Northwest, and books for children.  She also wrote many articles and reviews for prominent magazines.  A proponent of Buddhism, Ross was on the board of the Asia Society from 1956 to 1985. She passed away in Florida on January 18, 1986.
