When Elmer hears from a poor, ugly alley cat of a place called Wild Island, bristling with wild beasts and covered with dense jungles where a baby dragon is chained up and overworked, he determines to rescue him. This book mixes humor and adventure in a charming way. My kids and I really enjoyed it.

I loved this one! I wish I could go to the library right now and get it again. I want to read it over and over and over again! My favorite book series this summer!!!! It was really funny because when he went to the jungle to save the dragon, he met some tigers, and gave them chewing gum, and they ate it. And then he looked some more and found a lion and did his hair. He went and found some crocodiles and was too afraid to cross the stream, and so he gave them lollipops and rode across, and then....there's a lot more! It is fun.
