Marilyn Durnell resides near Greenfield, Indiana, with her husband, Stan, where they home schooled seven of their eight children. For many years, Marilyn has taught elementary and secondary science and math to classes of home schooled children. During this time, she has also tutored home schooled, privately schooled and publicly schooled children, and adults. In 1998, Marilyn and Dr. Jay L. Wile co-authored a biology textbook specifically designed for home schooled children.
Stan and Marilyn have been very active in the leadership of the Christian home schooling community in Indiana for many years, having served as support group leaders, regional representatives and members of the board of directors of the Indiana Association of Home Educators. Stan and Marilyn believe that God has given them, as parents, the responsibility for the teaching and training of their children. (Deuteronomy 6:6-7) It has been their desire to nurture them so that the character of Christ might be developed within them. (I Timothy 1:5)
Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the Indiana University School of Medicine.
