Maia Wojciechowska was born in Warsaw, Poland. She travels widely and has lived in Spain, but she finds New York City the most exciting place in which to work. She has one daughter, Oriana.
Miss Wojciechowska has written several books for children, among them Shadow of a Bull, which won the Newbery Medal in 1965, A Kingdom in a Horse, and The Hollywood Kid. She writes, she says, to reach those young people who might already be lost to what is termed "juvenile fiction."
