This is a charming (the warm-your-heart-to-your-toes kind) childrens book. A small poor boy transforms rich grumpy Grampa with his sweet innocence. For me as a child, I felt encouraged in a positive way, because I could turn my sweetness on and off, and innocence had no place in my being. And perhaps there is the author's worldview coming through. The children are all, well, innocent. And because we are all born into sin, we're all, well, not.
As I said: a charming book, well written, fun to read, and I recommend it! But don't let your children think this is how all children would be if only they had a sweet and kind mother.
