The tales of The Jungle Book continue to delight and entertain readers the world over. Preeminent among the stories are the adventures of Mowgli, the "man-cub." Abandoned as a baby by his parents and raised by wolves in the wilds of the jungle, Mowgli learns the exacting laws of nature and survival under the tutelage of Baloo the bear, Bagheera the black panther, and Kaa the python.
There's more to The Jungle Book than great storytelling. With its rich depiction of cultures and history from the depths of the Indian jungles to the far reaches of the Arctic north, it is also a remarkable snapshot of its time.
This does not include the sequel, commonly called "Part 2".
