John Hudson Tiner

John Hudson Tiner

Tiner entered the world on October 8, 1944, in Pocahontas, Arkansas.   In his late teens, but before marrying wife Delma, Tiner worked in the pipeline construction business, following in his father's footsteps.  He then graduated from high school and attended Harding College, where he received his bachelor of science degree.  Arkansas State University accepted him and he stayed with them three years but earned his M.A.T. from Duke University.  Taking one teaching position after another as the opportunity arose, Tiner taught junior high, high school, and college students math or science.

A cartographer and freelance author as well, Tiner writes textbooks, science curriculum material, character-building biographies, and books on a variety of other subjects. His books entertain while they increase a person's knowledge of the essentials of the subject. He brings a wide range of exciting facts together in his more than 1,000 published manuscripts, including more than 80 books, and over five hundred articles, poems, and stories for magazines.  His subjects include mysteries, science fiction, astronomy, photography, biographies of historical people, and religious works, such as Prayers & Promises for Dads

He is probably best known for his books for teens and young people including the "Exploring the World of" series for Master Books and titles in the Sower Series for Mott Media. He says, "Young readers of today deserve to experience the thrill and wonder of learning about science. They delight in learning new facts, especially if the facts are presented in an exciting way."

John Hudson Tiner's popular biographies tell the lives of people who left the world in a better condition than they found it. He says, "After the research is finished, a wonderful moment occurs when the story takes over and the characters come alive. I am no longer a writer, but a time traveler who stands unobserved in the shadows and reports the events as they occur."

Tiner's material has been translated into a variety of languages including Spanish, Russian, and German. He currently lives with his wife in Missouri.
