An illustrator who taught art in the West Indies while working as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Kitchel now illustrates in watercolors and pen and ink for magazines, posters, and books for children. Kitchel supplied the artwork for biographies written by Anna Harwell Celenza such as Bach's Goldberg Variations and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, among several others.
