Jeannie Fulbright

After graduating from the University of Texas in 1991, Jeannie K. Fulbright married her husband Jeff, who is a practicing attorney in Georgia, and began her family. A homeschooling mother with a love for God's Word and for educating her four children, Mrs. Fulbright also devotes time to producing the Exploring Creation series of science textbooks for Apologia.

Though her primary occupation is educating her children, her love of science inspired her to write these courses after she discerned a tremendous need for easy-to-use, in-depth science curriculum for young homeschoolers. Her desire was to create "something that fascinated both parents and children, glorified God, was thorough and detailed but didn't require a lot of preparation." It would also be helpful if such a program could be used with several children at different academic levels. After trying library books, which bored her children with their scientific terminology and wording, she decided that she wanted something more organized than sorting through a large stack of books. She was also concerned with finding a course that would satisfy her scientifically-inclined, highly intelligent, dyslexic child's special needs and hunger for deeper, more stimulating, science information. Influenced by Charlotte Mason's living books philosophy and motivated by the immersion approach, eventually she found herself writing such a course.

Though the information presented in each book is challenging, she writes in engaging conversational language, and the coursework is designed to allow students to express their learning on their own level. This method allows such diverse students as a six year old, a twelve year old and a special needs student to do the course together, using their own learning style and mode of expression in their course notebook. She has currently completed six books in the series and plans to continue writing these courses (Chemistry & Physics are planned for a 2013 release), in the hope that they serve to ground students and their parents in their faith as they learn science from a creationist perspective.

In addition to being available by email to answer questions from homeschool moms and children, she also carves out time each year to write for various magazines and publications, and speak both locally and nationally to various women's groups on educating children, science, marriage, health and fitness and other topics.
