J.D. Hillberry is an award-winning artist who aims for photo realism in his charcoal drawings. Hillberry grew up in Wyoming with a stong interest in art and drawing, slowly developing what was to become his signature charcoal and graphite techniques. His style reflects a keen eye for shadow and light, especially in his
trompe l'oeil drawings which are crafted to look three-dimensional. Hillberry hopes to convey emotions and provoke thought by using his art as a form of communication. Now a resident of Westminster, Colorado, Hillberry continues to work from his personal studio. He is also the creator of the drawing technique book,
Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil.
