Harry by the Sea

Harry by the Sea

by Gene Zion, Margaret Bloy Graham (Illustrator)
Publisher: HarperCollins
Trade Paperback, 31 pages
Price: $8.99

Harry the dog is very hot. All he wants is a nice shady spot away from the sun. But there's no more room under the family's beach umbrella—or anywhere else he looks. So Harry sits down sadly at the water's edge. Suddenly a big wave crashes over him, and when the wave rolls back, Harry is completely covered with seaweed. Now he's nice and cool, but everyone thinks he's a sea monster. On top of that, he can't find his family anywhere. What will Harry do now?

"Very few children can resist Harry. Subtle humor and ridiculous but somehow plausible situations capture the most reluctant reader." — School Library Journal

It's a really, really, really, good book. The author is really smart. It was clever when the hot dog man shouted "Hurry", but Harry thought he said "Harry" and he ran towards the hot dog stand.
