The Greek Treasure is a biographical novel about Henry Schliemann and Sophia Engastromenos, the Greek woman who became his wife and full partner in the archaeological work of discovering the city of Troy and the royal tombs of Mycenae based upon the writings of Homer. He is somewhat controversial today, but his work was groundbreaking (pun sort-of intended) in treating Homer as a trustworthy and real historical person, not to mention leaving his library to do the work of excavation himself.
From the dust jacket:
The Greek Treasure is an unforgettable human story. The reader will relate to Sophia and Henry, will care about them, finishing the last page of the novel reluctantly, yet fulfilled.
