Twenty-two hundred years ago, King Chen became the First Supreme Emperor of China. The emperor had many responsibilities, but his greatest was to protect his people from the fierce Mongol horsemen who raided villages and threatened to invade all of China. King Chen came up with a brilliant solution: He would build a wall.
After ten long years of back-breaking work, the 3,750-mile wall was complete. Though today parts of it lie in ruins, the Great Wall of China remains a testament to the strength and will of the Chinese people.
