Portraits of 30 African-Americans who, as children or teenagers, took part in the American civil rights movement of the 1950s and '60s. These activists reminisce about such things as refusing to give up their seats on buses, picketing against segregated stores and restaurants, and taking part in peaceful protests that often ended in violence.
