Casper ten Boom was more than a watchmaker whose expertise was recognized throughout his homeland, the Netherlands. He was more than an honest, honorable businessman who gained the respect of his fellow tradesmen. He was more than an active church member whose leadership served as an example to his community in Haarlem. Casper ten Boom was a man of God–a Christian whose faith was an inspiration to his children. Many years after his death in a Nazi prison camp, his daughter, Corrie, shares her memories of that greatly loved Haarlemer.
Corrie ten Boom vividly recalls the lessons of love and encouragement which she learned in her youth. Recently, she discovered many of the letters which passed between Casper and other family members. The correspondence, which she shares, attests to his Christian commitment, his warm interest in his fellow man and his deep concern for those needing refuge. His spiritual optimism caused him to fearlessly hide Jews in his home during World War II, and risk his own life for the cause of justice–a risk which became a sacrifice. His home was a haven for those in trouble, for those who needed help or advice. Although his life ended in a lonely death, he will long be remembered by his family and friends.
Come, visit 19 Barteljorisstraat. Meet the man who shaped Corrie ten Boom's early years, the man who imparted his faith and his courage to his daughter. FATHER TEN BOOM will introduce you to a man who was a sincere Christian, a greatly admired Dutchman, and a loving father.
