English Garden

From the great landscape parks of Stourhead, Petworth, Blenheim and Osborne, to the carefully tended cottage gardens which adorn every rural village, the English garden is a permanent memorial to a tradition going back to the Middle Ages and beyond.

This beautiful book celebrates that tradition, placing particular emphasis on the years from 1680 to 1820, when the pioneers like William Kent, Capability Brown and Humphry Repton, turned whole landscapes into works of art.
