Don Batten

    Born on February 5, 1951, Donald Batten lived and was raised in a rural part of Australia. At the young age of ten, Batten became a Christian from the street evangelism of a preacher from the Open Air Campaigners, and he quickly disreguarded the theory of evolution because he saw that the idea and the Bible were contradictory. From 1969-1972, he studied agriculture at the University of Sydney, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science and first class honors. Following this graduation, he spent until 1976 earning his Ph.D. from the Department of Agronomy and Horticultural Science of the University of Sydney (his thesis was entitled Induction of Adventitious Root Formation in Mung Bean). He then worked as a research horticulturist in Alstonville from 1976 to 1990, during which time he researched lychees and mangoes in India and Taiwan in 1980, as well as various other horticultural research projects. In 1991 he was promoted to senior research horticulturist, and after three years at this post, moved to the Creation Science Foundation as a private horticultural consultant. His work at that firm is fueled by his desire to influence others against the false philosophy of evolution. He is married to Lesley, with whom he has three children.
