Born an Oregonian, Pendergraft has lived in several U.S. states as well as abroad. She now resides in Wyoming. Her approach to teaching literature is through unit studies. She devised a unit study called Further Up and Further In based on The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. Consistently involved in helping others enjoy reading, Pendergraft has taught geography, a literature class, and led book club discussions for homeschool students. She also initiated an adult book group that has stayed together for over five years.
