A battle is being waged for the hearts and minds of students—and the classroom is the battlefield!

As never before in the history of our culture, the challenge before us is that of thinking clearly and Biblically in a world of media-pandered political correctness and ethical doublespeak. But how can Christian young people and educators learn to see through today's counterfeit "truth" and expose the error of a naturalistic worldview?

Understanding the Times is a quantum leap in the right direction. This book is designed to train students not only in recognizing and confronting the "worldview bias" around them, but also in formulating Biblical answers—answers to the arguments forced on them by Secular Humanism, Marxism/Leninism, and New Age philosophy in the areas of theology, biology, psychology, sociology, law, ethics, economics, and history. Through the use of logical arguments and lucid writing, Dr. David Noebel exposes the flawed foundations of these popular ideologies and the dangers inherent in their conclusions. Most important, he brings the higher standards of Biblical Christianity to each of these disciplines, providing readers with a solid cornerstone upon which to build a godly and workable worldview.

Left to the whims of outspoken politicians and liberal media, we all are trapped in the hostile terrain of atheistic materialism and moral relativism. But with an effective intellectual and spiritual weapon like Understanding the Times, we can begin to turn the tide of battle and build strategic leadership for tomorrow!

This is an abridged version.

  Understanding the Times, Abridged

This is one of the required reading books for our children in preparing them for college and life. Overall, it does an excellent, thought-provoking job of helping the student examine the various common world views to Christianity in the different topics of life (biology, theology, psychology, sociology, economics, etc.). While it is not "easy" reading, Nobel does a good job of handling very complex issues for the layman without being too overwhelming. I prefer the abridged version to the full version for this reason. This book together with the Bluedorn books gives a strong foundation for a child to battle the opposing and deceptive worldviews they will come across especially in secular colleges.
