Tale of Tom Kitten

Tale of Tom Kitten

Book 8
by Beatrix Potter
Hardcover, 59 pages
Price: $7.99

Mrs. Tabitha Twitchit has her paws full when she tries to get her three unruly kittens ready for company. She dresses Mittens and Moppet in little white pinafores, and pulls out a set of uncomfortably elegant clothes for Tom Kitten. Tom is in particular very naughty, and scratches.

“Now, keep your frocks clean children and walk on your hind legs!”

But her children have other plans. It’s awfully hard to walk on one’s hind legs when one is a kitten, especially in fine clothes. As they play in the garden, the three naughty kittens lose all of their clothes as buttons burst off and petticoats are torn.

Needless to say, Mrs. Twitchit is quite affronted when she finds out, and sends the kittens up to their rooms before her company sees them. However, the kittens do not stay in their beds as they were told, and the extraordinary noises that are heard over head quite disturb the dignity of the tea party.
