Rickman grew up in California with his mother and a Navy aviator father. He now works as the state parks system co-ordinator of exhibits and as a freelance illustrator. His artwork can be found in coloring books and in history books about the U.S. military, Native Americans, and Peter the Great, to name a few subjects. Museums, historic sites, and the National Park Service also house his art in their collections. Rickman continues to live and work in Delaware.
