Did Christopher Columbus exploit the people of America, or did he evangelize them? What were his true goals, his motives, his reasons for undertaking the dangerous voyage?

Did Hernando Cortez subjugate the people of Mexico—or did he liberate them?

Why all the controversy over these explorers? Is it really to correct the historical record, or is it an assault on the values of Western Civilization and Christianity which is the source of those values?

In this enlightening book, historical scholar Col. Dr. John Eidsmoe, Esq. examines these questions and provides evidence from the historical record that many have forgotten, overlooked, ignored, or revised. In many current history books, any Christian aspect is warped or omitted. Great men have been slandered. In this book, the author presents a picture of two men who, though admittedly fallen and sinful, did great things for Christ.

While it has plenty of dry places, the content of this book is excellent. He approaches the lives of Columbus and Cortez from a Biblical worldview, and the result is unlike anything I'd ever read on these men. Many have reivised history to make it look like the goal of these men was purely mercenary... but reading only a few of their personal letters makes it very clear that, whatever mistakes they made, their goal was the furthering of God's kingdom!
This would make a great book to study for school.
