Bryan Chapell

Born on November 18, 1954, Dr. Bryan Chapell has served as President of Covenant Seminary and professor of practical theology since 1994. Ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1976, he holds a Ph.D. from Souther Illinois University, and began teaching at Covenant Seminary in 1984, after ten years of pastoral ministry in Illinois. Before becoming President, he served for six years as Vice President and Dean of Faculty.

The author of many books and articles, he is much sought after as a speaker in churches and conferences around the country. Christ-Centered Preaching has established him as one of the nation's most recognized teachers of homiletics. Dr. Chapell teaches the introductory homiletics courses and several practicums, giving every M.Div. student the opportunity to study under him.

He has received several awards, including Book of the Year awards, Preaching, 1994, and Religious Speech Communication Association, 1996, both for Christ-Centered Preaching: Redeeming the Expository Sermon. He holds memberships in the Evangelical Theological Society, Fellowship of Evangelical Seminary Presidents, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Delta Chi. He and his wife Kathleen have four children.
