The BJU British Literature course discusses cultural issues from eight literary periods in light of Scripture: Old English, Middle English, Tudor, Stuart, Neoclassical, Romantic, Victorian, and Modern. Traces English Christianity from its beginning to the present and studies the Shakespearean drama Macbeth.
The Student Text includes introductions for the major time periods and each selection, reading-check questions, and author biographies.
This is an updated edition with a soft cover, although not drastically revised from the first edition. It's gotten a face-lift with a very few additional explanatory notes scattered throughout the book. Page numbers between the two editions line up exactly, so old and new texts will work together. You can confidently buy an older, hardcover edition if you happen to come across one.
