Board Books

Board books are one of the greatest inventions of literate culture. Not only do they enable babies and toddlers to enjoy books, they allow those books to be enjoyed and not simultaneously destroyed. Naturally, the pictures and text (if there is any) are pretty basic, but it's enough to keep homunculi busy while laying the foundation for a lifetime of book-loving.

We don't currently carry a ton of board books, but we're working on that. If we expect to raise children dedicated to reading, we need to get books in their hands as soon as they're tactilely proficient, if not before. Most of these aren't even stories; instead, they teach kids important words, animal facts, or basic manners. Fortunately, their intended audience is largely too young to understand the difference.

Review by C. Hollis Crossman
C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he is a husband and father, teaches adult Sunday school in his Presbyterian congregation, and likes weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
