The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

This graphic story of the growth of freedom, its high points and its set-backs, opens with America's birth of freedom—the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It then goes back in time to show some of the earlier "birthdays of freedom."

Mrs. Foster has planned to present the whole story in two books written to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the American Library Association. This one, which is an independent unit, shows America's heritage from the ancient world. There are striking decorative maps and a time chart, as well as handsome illustrations for each page. The story may be read in pictures, maps and large type headings, or followed more closely in the text. It is an important contribution from an author-artist who has already done much to give young people a new approach to history.
