Here are the famous adventures of "Sinbad the Sailor," "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves," and "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp." Here too are less familiar stories, such as "Prince Ahmed and Periebanou," and "the Fisherman and the Genie." Adapted for children, these tales are a few of the stories-within-stories told over a thousand and one nights that continue to captivate readers as they have for centuries.

  The Arabian Nights

The Arabian Nights is a curious conglomeration of fairy tales from the Middle East. The book tells of a group of stories that are being told by Scheherazade to the sultan, who has started marrying a woman and then killing her every day, until Scheherazade is chosen. Every night she tells a story and stops a the most exciting part and the Sultan lets her live another day. I especially like the first few stories, since they are nested. (One person tells a story about someone who tells a story about someone else...)
