Caution: As some of the descriptions might indicate, there are a number of pictures that include partial female nudity. Tierney attempts to be accurate in his depictions, but also delicate, as he avoids graphic portrayal of details. Still, this is probably not the best book for young boys or sensitive girls.

Accompanied by accurate representations of period accessories (weapons, fans, symbols of office, musical instruments, etc.), these handsome illustrations are sure to delight coloring book enthusiasts, students of costume design, and fashion historians.
