The fictional town of Green Lawn, Connecticut is full of mysteries just waiting to be solved, and Josh, Dink, and Ruth Rose are just the kids to do it. From missing authors to zombie-like robbers, they investigate their way through twenty-six curious cases. 

These cases, of course, are not particularly groundbreaking. Like most series books, the plots can be formulaic, but they remain fairly exciting without ever being too scary for young readers. Unlike a lot of mystery series for kids, the heroes of the A to Z Mysteries have good relationships with the adults in the stories, and with each other. They want to do the right thing, and they solve mysteries by being curious, brave, and smart enough to know when to call in friendly local policeman Officer Fallon, or another responsible adult. These are positive, nonthreatening, fun stories for kids who are a little too young for Encyclopedia Brown, but old enough to want a more challenging mystery story.
