Robinson traveled to Africa at age thirteen and left at age nineteen, but over time he spent over thirty years of his life on that continent. Born on January 9, 1908, Robinson later earned a bachelor's degree in 1934 from Pacific Union College. He returned to Africa to be a director at the Malamulo Mission Training School. Then after earning his master's degree from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, he served as a principal in Kenya. Moving to South Africa he taught history for six years before taking on the position as senior editor of a correspondence school called the Home Study Institute. An author as well and a member of the Christian Writers' Association, Robinson penned books on Martin Luther, Mary Slessor, and John Nevins Andrews.
