The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

The world of UNICEF is the world of children-nearly one billion of them altogether. Diverse in their languages, culture, and geography. their universality is found in their capacity for delight in the many joys of childhood and especially in the holidays and festivals they celebrate.

Not all festivals and holidays were planned for children but somehow children have become an important part of them.

This book is a sampling of some of the important festivals and holidays of the world in which children participate and have fun. In pictures and prose, UNICEF's Festival Book captures the sights, sounds and feelings of Christmas in Sweden, The Netherlands and Mexico; the color and gaiety of New Year in Iran and Ethiopia; Divali in India: Easter in Poland; the end of Ramadan in Pakistan; the Buddhist Water Festival in Thailand; Hanukah in Israel; the Girls Doll Festival in Japan; and Halloween in the U.S. and Canada. Twelve holidays have been included covering the major cultures and geographic regions of the world.

Published by the U.S. Committee for UNICEF, the text and illustrations were prepared with the help and cooperation of the embassies and U.N. delegations of the countries represented in the book.
