A home schooling mom, Johnson founded the company Knowledge Quest, a publishing house which offers teaching helps for history and geography. Johnson either wrote or edited the What Really Happened... series, a set of historical biographies about Colonial times, Ancient times, and the Middle Ages. Her products bring history to life for students through books, maps and timelines she's produced, as well as through games and various curriculum. The readers of Old Schoolhouse Magazine voted Knowledge Quest, Inc. the winner of "Best Geography Company" in both 2003 and 2004.
