Payne, the former homeschooling mother of six children, works as editor of the Indiana Association of Home Educators bi-monthly magazine Informer. Helping other homeschooling families throughout her adult life, Payne still teaches co-op classes and lecturers to support groups. She stays busy also with her seven grandchildren and with her home business Indian Creek Stepping Stones, which publishes unit studies, other educational books, and helpful tools for parents. Payne's curriculum Around the World in 180 Days remains popular and is in its third printing.
