Sometimes you don't want to have thirty-five books laying around the house, but you want as many titles for your kids to read. Enter: The Picture Book Treasury, a compendium of classic and beloved children's books designed to keep children entertained, the bookcase collection handsome, and the house in relatively good order.
There are basically two kinds of picture book treasuries—those which collect the works of a single author, and those which bring together a variety of styles and authors under a common theme. We offer both kinds, though our favorites tend to be the author-specific volumes (we're pretty big fans of Beatrix Potter and Winnie the Pooh).
The downside to treasuries is that they're more difficult to hold, typically being much larger and heavier than ordinary picture books. At the same time, that downside can be a great benefit: bulky books make great foundations for living room forts. And for kiddos, the picture book treasury is a better choice than the Oxford English Dictionary because once inside the fort, what else are they going to do but read by flashlight?
