Peter Conrad

Peter Conrad

An Australian-born academic who specializes in English literature, Peter Conrad currently teaches at Christ Church at Oxford University. He has written several works of criticism on Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock. His other books include histories of English literature and the twentieth century, as well as a novel and two autobiographical works. He has written reviews and features for many magazines and newspapers, including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Observer and The New Statesman.

In 1968, Conrad moved to Oxford on a Rhodes Scholarship. He was a Fellow of All Souls, Oxford, from 1970 to 1973, before assuming his current post at Christ Church. He has been a visiting Professor at Princeton University and at Williams College, and a guest lecturer throughout the United States. He resides in London, spending part of each year in New York and Lisbon.
