Born in 1930, Maier later earned a M.A., a M.Div, and a Ph.D. Utilizing his Fulbright Scholarship, Maier also studied in Germany and Switzerland. This professor of Ancient History at Western Michigan University is also a best-selling historical author. He has penned more than 25 books of fiction, non-fiction, and children's books, such as The Very First Christmas and his most recent title The Real Story of the Flood. Maier also co-authored The Da Vinci Code: Fact or Fiction as a rebuttal to Dan Brown's book, and he has written over 200 articles and reviews. A professor, author, and lecturer, Maier is also the Second Vice President of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
