Paul David Tripp

Paul David Tripp

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Paul David Tripp entered the world on November 12, 1950, to parents Bob and Fae.  Newcomers to Christ, the Tripp family strived to understand the Gospel and to follow the Lord.  The ups and downs in his life enabled Tripp to better appreciate the hardships Christians face.  He decided to attend Columbia Bible College, now called Columbia International University, majoring in Bible and Christian education.  Beginning school with the intent to study journalism, Tripp instead found himself focusing wholeheartedly on theology and determined to attend seminary next.

He married Luella, took a pastoral position in a local church, and then studied at Philadelphia Theological Seminary, earning his Master of Divinity degree.  For ten years Tripp lived and worked in Scranton, Pennsylvania where he helped plant a church and founded a Christian school.  Tripp took an interest in music and delved deeply into biblical counseling, which led him to Westminster Theological Seminary to earn his doctorate in their Biblical Counseling program.  As a counselor, Tripp joined the faculty of the Christian Counseling and Education Foundation and lectured on the topic at Westminster Theological Seminary.

Tripp has now entered a new phase in his life.  He founded Paul Tripp Ministries in 2006 and became a pastor at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia.  Continuing his counseling, speaking at conferences world-wide, and writing books keeps Tripp busy.  He co-authored the book Relationships:  A Mess Worth Making and penned the work Age of Opportunity:  A Biblical Guide to Parenting Teens.  With his wife, Luella, who works for a commercial art gallery, Tripp lives in Philadelphia and has helped raise four children.
