The 2nd edition of My Pals are Here International Science offers a focus on awareness, collaboration, and critical and inventive thinking using an inquiry-based approach. The program is for grades 1-6 and based on the principles of engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, and evaluation.
There is now one Textbook, Activity Book, and Teacher’s Guide per grade (as compared to the A and B books in the first edition).
The Activity Book contains the Student Worksheets, Creative Science activities, Review Questions, and the end of the year review. Each activity lists the aim or objective of the activity, materials needed, procedures, observations, questions, and conclusions. These books are the only consumable portion of the curriculum, and are illustrated with black and white illustrations.
Publisher recommendation:
The activity books can be used in a school or home setting. This series is written for schools, so expect to make some adaptations of you are using it for a home school. Most of the activities require simple household items or items easily obtained in the store. A few require more specialized but inexpensive laboratory equipment, such as beakers, laboratory thermometers, spring balances, and so on, that can be obtained from a school science supply site. Some activities require more expensive equipment or substitutions if doing them at home, such as using the stove or an alcohol lamp rather than a Bunsen burner and a beaker. Answers are in the Teacher’s Guide. British English is used.
Note that the 1st Edition and 2nd Edition books of My Pals Are Here Science are not interchangeable.
