The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!
From inside the book:
In the Wallowa Valley lived the Wallam-watkin band of the Nez Perce Indians, whose chieftains were Tu-eka-kas, or Old Joseph, and later his son, Hin-mut-too-yah-lat-kekht, or Young Joseph. Here for many years they tried to maintain themselves peace-fully against the encroachments of the whites. Here at last they fought. Their masterful, heroic, but hopeless retreat across 1300 miles of mountain wilderness was the death march of a once powerful people.
This is the scene of one of the great epics of the American Indian.
