Jane Rosenberg

Jane Rosenberg

Jane Rosenberg was born in New York City to parents Abner and Lily. She enjoyed picture books from an early age, marveling at the illustrations. Years later she focused on the visual arts, earning a bachelor's of fine arts degree from Arcadia University and a master's degree from New York University. After graduating, Rosenberg painted and exhibited her work in New York City galleries. To earn a living she taught art and did freelance editorial illustration for magazines, newspapers, and books. Before long Rosenberg entertained the idea of writing and illustrating a book based on the performing arts and made the idea into reality. Along with Dance Me A Story, her books include Sing Me A Story: The Metropolitan Opera’s Book of Opera Stories for Children and Play Me A Story: A Child’s Introduction to Classical Music Through Stories and Poems.

Successful as a painter, writer, and illustrator, she has co-authored a children's television series for Public Broadcasting Service and is the ballet critic for the online publication, The International Review of Music. She aims to continue bringing classical music and the arts to the attention of children through her work.
