A trustee of the John Grier orphanage has offered to send Judy Abbott to college. The only requirements are that she must write to him every month, and that she can never know who he is. Judy's life at college is a whirlwind of friends, classes, parties, and a growing friendship with the handsome Jervis Pendleton. With so much happening in her life, Judy can scarcely stop writing!

The letters are on the whole very pleasant and paint a moving picture of orphanage life and an unforgettable portrait of a child's mind.

  Judy the Writer
Leah of Oregon, 10/16/2008
An anonymous trustee of the John Grier Home volunteers to pay Judy Abbott's way through college on condition she writes him with progress reports. Judy is an orphan who wants to be a writer and with no other family to write to her progress reports soon turn to much more. She nicknames her sponser/trustee Daddy-Long-Legs. She finds herself being treated and spoiled as a daughter, or something else? This book is all of Judy's letters to her beloved "Daddy." She pours out all her new joys, amusing thoughts, loves, woes, and endless activities. It is a lovely story! Judy will wriggle her way into your heart just as she did mine and Daddy-Long-Legs. Read it!
