D. James Kennedy

D. James Kennedy

Born on November 3, 1930, in Georgia, Kennedy went on to become highly educated, earning a Ph.D. in religious education from New York University. An ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church in America, Kennedy has served as the senior minister at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, since 1959. His influence on America and beyond has been tremendous through his founding of four organizations that work for evangelism and cultural renewal, his television and radio programs, and his writings. Not only an author of books, Kennedy also pens the forewords for other writers. He contributed to Christianity and the Constitution and Home Schooling: The Right Choice.

Involved in political activities, Kennedy believes that the Founding Fathers intended that laws and policies revolve around evangelical Christianity and a Christian constitution. He helps promote his beliefs through The D. James Kennedy Center for Christian Statesmanship on Capitol Hill. Energetic in defending his faith, Kennedy has had to slow down, when in late 2006 he suffered from a cardiac arrest and has been given a pacemaker in his heart.
