Brett Helquist

Although an author in his own right, Brett Helquist's illustrations are best recognized in his work for A Series of Unfortunate Events. Helquist, the only boy out of the seven children in his family, was born in Ganado, Arizona and grew up in Orem, Utah. He studied at Brigham Young University, where he acquired a bachelor's degree in fine arts. A resident of Brooklyn, Helquist's work has appeared in the magazines The New York Times and Cricket, the Tales from the House of Bunnicula series, and his own book, Roger, the Jolly Pirate.
